Is this a memory leak problem? It seems to happen most often in Quark, Illustrator & Photoshop. Menu items in the top menu bar will disappear along with the functions in those menus. For example, I was just working in Illustrator and both the 'File' and 'Edit' menus disappeared.

I'm using a G4 with 1Gb of RAM, so memory should be a problem!

Thanks!

You're running multiple apps?
One of the things about pre-OS X operating systems is that they don't manage RAM allocation all that well.

You've got enough RAM on the board but what's allocated to the app? APLE-I after highlighting the application icon will reveal this <I never assume a user knows this stuff so don't be annoyed if I've spoken "under" you>

The author above seems to have a good start.
Zap and rebuild.

OPTION-APPLE-P-R from power "off" on boot for five startup chimes. release only the P key and wait for the screen prompt to rebuild the desktop file.
