i have an old server running hpux 11
the error is

insufficient memory or swap space

to the point where i can't run any commands

like ls or cat or anything

when i try to use any command it just core dumps

hmmm, me thinks reboot time ...

not ideal, but if you can't run commands then you're a bit stuffed.

after the reboot my swap space on /dev/vg00/lvol2 went to 0% used and my memory dropped to 40% used....soon after the memory started growing.....memory is now 97% and swap space on /dev/vg00/lvol2 is up to 11%....i can't find anything that is making this grow....any suggestions

thanks in advance

Have you got glance installed - if so, wil show you whats using the memory.

Whats the server used for ???

Have a look at top. Are you running any rdbms, e.g. Oracle? If so check your dbc kernel parameters.
