Hi I've got an pseries server with 12GB Ram - 4GB is allocated to Oracle. If the server runs for a while it utilizes 100% memory. Is there anything I can do to bring this down - even on days where there is no traffic or activity it is still on 100%. Can I check anything or monitor anything to see if there is a problem somewhere? Or is this normal?

Thanks.

what do you check to say that ?
are experiencing performance problems ?
running vmstat 1 what the columns pi / po say ?

i'remember a thread someone initiate with same kind of question , the response was "it's normal that the system use all the memory it can use".

An AIX system uses any extra memory for file cache, it is normal for the system to look like it has no memory. Run topas and check for %COMP and %NONCOMP memory section. The %COMP is how much RAM is being used by processes, and NON is RAM being used as file cache. If you would like to put a limit on file cache usage of RAM, use the vmstat command.

ooops... I meant use the vmtune command, comes with bos.adt.samples
