I just found out the pcb version of my a7n8x motherboard is 1.4 Ready to buy newer memory to go with my barton 2800+ and even though my manual says it supports DDR400 because of the revision 1.4 I'm not sure it does. Would I be on the safer side if I purchased a Premium 512MB PC 2700 333MHz 64x64 DDR 184 memory? and if so would I need to buy 2 of these for my board or can I just buy 1 and buy a couple more later on down the line?

Go for DDR400. What can do more can do less, and DDR400 can be run in 333 mode without any problem.
Plus, later on when you get a true DDR400-compatible mainboard and CPU, you won't need to change RAM again.

Pascal.

Yes go PC3200 (I have used Kingston Value and Twinmoss with success on this revision) note* two matching modules will enable dual memory and a slight increase in performance (1/3%) so on this type of mainboard I guess 2x 256/512 is the better choice.
As with all the early Nforce2 motherboards it is advisable to use the latest platform drivers and later bios revisions as a lot of teething problems were irradicated by doing so.
