Dear Tek-tips member,

I get router error message at my sislog server. The error message is:

Is the error problem appearing because ospf routing problem?
Can you give me any suggestion to stop the problem?

Thanks
RZ

Put more memory into your router. It needs more DRAM. Your router is complaining about the IPX Get Nearest Server request and the OSPF routing protocol. Upgrade the memory and your problem will go away. I'd suggest blowing the router out with max DRAM and I'd upgrade the flash to max while I was at it as well. You can buy Kingston memory for 1/4 the price that Cisco's sells theirs for. FYI.

How much RAM have you got in your router? (sh ver)

Also check output from sh mem, may indicate other problems.

I'd agree with IPKONFIG, it may need more RAM, but there may be another problem behind this.

there are several bugs that can cause this no matter how much memory you throw at it. One biggie is that EIGRP in several releases when running multiple protocols such as IP and IPX will have a memory leak when you have lots of routes.

A quick note to TAC with the printout can confirm either a bug or an upgrade to the IOS.

I have this problem before and it was caused by a virus on a host that was using the router as its gateway. Check for nachi/slammer virus on you r host machines. Try connecting just one device directly to the router to see if the mem-alloction errors disappear.
