Memo Fields Causing Corruption

I am experiencing an ongoing problem with memo fields becoming corrupted for no apparent reason. It has happened in multiple databases and tables, so I'm not going to specify details of the data. What happens is all of the sudden when data from a table is accessed an error occurs that says "Record Deleted" and import of that data, or whatever else might be being done, is halted. Every time this occurs, I examine the data and find that in one of the records, in one of its memo fields, it will just say #deleted#. Nothing can be done with this record at this point except deleting it and replacing from a backup.
Has anyone else experienced this? And more importantly, is there a way tp prevent it from happening?
Thanks.

I haven't experienced this issue but there are many season developers who will place the memo fields in their own table, linked 1 to 1 to the primary key in the main table.

I suspect the issues are increased by network connection problems and/or a design where more than one person might be editing the record simultaneously.

That's the approach I was thinking about taking, but hoped I'd be able to avoid it.
Thanks for your help.
