I am considering using a memo field due to the possibility of a large amount of text. Looks like a memo field holds 65536 characters as opposed to 255 for a text field. If I use a memo field and designate that field to be 2000 characters wide and only use 1000, is 1000 characters the space used or 2000?

Thanx,

hoof

You shouldn't even have to worry about this. However data typically uses only the amount actually stored. There may be a little overhead and possibly some influence from page sizes.

How are ya hoofit . . .

There is no [blue]Field Size[/blue] property for a memo field. The size follows the character count.
