Memo field truncates to 255 characters

Thanks for responding to my problem.
Since commencing this thread further investigation has shown that the table in which the query was based only included information that was already truncated to 255. This appears to have been created when using an output macro to an excell spreadsheet then importing the information into my current table. Somewhere in the process of going from database to excell I have lost anything beyond 255 characters.
