Forgive me if this is terribly stupid as I'm not an *expert* in Access. I am having a problem with two
fields in a database that I designed as "memo" fields, however when you are putting data into the form, they are acting like regular "text" fields allowing 255 characters only.

Make sure the form fields are bound to the table memo fields. It sounds to me like you may not have the form fields bound correctly.

Unfortunately, I may not have the terminology correct, but wouldn't it be bound if I dragged the field from the field list onto the form?

Yes, that action usually binds the field. You can verify this by looking in the Properties Window under Data for that particular field. Check again to make sure you have Memo set for the table field data type. If the table field is set to Memo and you've bound the form field to the table correctly then it should work. If it doesn't then I don't have a clue why.

You are formating the Field. Delete any formating in the *FORMAT* Option of your data field Best Regards

Hi!

One more thought just to confuse matters! :) If you originally had the field in the table as text fields and then created the form. If, after that, you changed the fields in the table to memo fields, the form won't recognize the change. It you delete the text boxes and drag the fields back onto the form, you should be okay.

Thank you all for your responses. When I took the > out of the format field, all worked great!

Jeff: I don't think that's correct about changing field types on the fly. I created a table with a default text field and built a form on it. I filled the text box on the form with 50 characters and closed the form. Next I changed the data type in the table from text to memo, closed the table and reopened the form. It accepted more text so I presume the data type was requeried when the form was next opened.

JoaoTL: There are no formatting options for text or memo fields in the table and changing from number to text or memo blanks the formatting option anyway.

Or am I just missing the boat on this one?

Uncle Jack

Hi UncleJack i was talking about the *FORMAT* option in the Form Control. Like if you have the ">" to UpperCase or "<" to LowerCase.

Best Regards
