We have one 2003 DC and 40 computers, some 2000, some XP. All can see the Directory through Windows Explorer. We have added a 2003 member server in preparation for Exchange 2003. That member server cannot contact the DC. It cannot see the Directory-it can see everything but the Directory. I ran sdiag and got a LDAP error. I ran the same program from a workstation and did NOT get the LDAP error. This is preventing the installation of Exchange because the installation cannot contact the Schema master because it cannot contact the DC. I installed the 2003 adminpak on the member server. Still could not 'contact' the Active directory. I have the 2000 adminpak on my computer and I can write to the Active Directory. What on the member server could prevent it from 'contacting' the DC? I am logged on through the member server as the administrator account that is a member of all the admin groups. TIA for any help.

i had a almost the same problem i down loaded frsdiag.exe to check my servers.

check your dns if theres a record for the second dc? and to add it manually. or maybe you didnt add the dns of the primary dns to the second dc?

Make sure the DNS settings for the new server are pointing at the DC AND ONLY THE DC.
