Hi,

Suddenly one of my databases which has forms produces an error when ever I use a control that has an event procedure attached.

For example when I have an event procedure On Mouse Down and click on it, I get

"The expression On Mouse Down you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Member already exists in an object module from which this object module derives"

I get the exact same message when I use an OnChange event, the wording is changed, ON MouseDown becomes OnChange. Plus all the others.

I searched the forum and found someone else had experienced this back in 2003 but the thread was closed with no answers.

Can anyone help?

Hi,

Thanks, turns out I found the error. I had created a variable with the same name as a control on my form.

They're a pain, but that's why using prefixes with all control names is important!

That would do it. I agree with missingling. Using prefixes, and explicitly naming controls IS a pain, but it saves hassles in the long run. Using prefixes for variables as well.

strClientname = string from txtClientName (textbox)
