Hello All,

First post, sorry if it is in the wrong spot or seems stupid.
I have once again been asked to configure a MediaTrix 4102 for a client to use on their fax copier. Yes in their line of work they actually do fax.
I did this a few years ago and got so frustrated I quit.
Not I am being asked again, so I ordered a unit, went to configure it and am getting very frustrated.
I know the IP of the device, *#0* yields the IP address, which is correct for the network. Yet when I try to go to that address in any browser it just times out, no login screen or anything. I can ping the device and it replies back.

I have searched everything that I can find, nothing seems to work. I don't want to make this device hit the walls as that is where my frustration level is at. I have tried 4 laptops, 3 browsers, 1 desktop PC nothing can log into this darn thing.

What am I doing wrong? The only reason we are wanting to use this device is that the client's business partner has the same unit on their copier / fax and it works perfectly. I can't even get this to work on my internal network let along theirs.

Any advise?

Thanks,
Christopher

Hello Christopher

Here are a 2 ways to get into the device -

1) Connect WAN port to the network. The WAN port is by default set to DHCP and will pick up an IP address via the Data DHCP lease.
Either scan the network to obtain the IP address or simply search for the MAC address in the DHCP lease pool.

2) Connect your PC to the LAN port directly. The LAN port is by default set to provide DHCP. Once you obtain an IP address, do ipconfig /all to locate what the IP Gateway address you have received via DHCP and then browse to that gateway to access the device.
**Note it is advisable to disable the DHCPO on the ATA just so it does not accidentally broadcast DHCP onto the network.**

Hope this helps.

I always connect WAN to customer, and have LAN values not used so that I can plug into it and configure if local
