Hi

I am trying to use Medianca 700MB CDRW disks in a Yamaha CRW8424 drive. Whether I try Nero or Windows XP writing methods, the disks are reported as being unwritable.

It is unlikely that the disks themselves can all be faulty.

I have followed Yamaha's website instructions and connected the CDRW Drive to the Secondary IDE as Master and the hard drive and CDROM to the Primary IDE as Master and Slave respectively.

I have the latest Firmware for the drive as available on Yamaha's website.

Any ideas?

TIA

Chris.

Tried that. It didn't make any difference - even lowering the speed to 1x.

Prolly should get a new drive.

I would first try different disks. It may be that the disks you are using are just a bad batch. It happens. Has any disks worked before? If yes, then try the brand that worked before. Buy a couple well known named disks and try it out. Buy blank disks are certainly cheaper than buying a whole new drive.
