The department I work for runs Netbackup restores for
outside customers. We have a Sun Solaris server running
Netbackup version 5.1 with two IBM Ultrium-TD1 LTO tape
drives. One of the drives can not be used for restoration
jobs. The other LTO drive works successfully.

Every restore we attempt to run with the one LTO drive
fails. Error messages are produced in the Netbackup log.
Here is an example of the messages;

cannot read image from media id Z03150, drive index 1, Not
enough space. Client restore EXIT STATUS 85: media read
error.

There are no other error messages created for this
condition. If we re-run the restore with the other LTO
tape drive it is successful.

We have run several tests to determine if there is anything
wrong with the hardware. So far we have not found any
errors.

The tape drives are SCSI connected to a FIBER to SCSI
Bridge. The Bridge is Fiber connected to a Decru Decryption
DataFort appliance. The Decru device is Fiber connected to
a single Fiber HBA port on our Netbackup Sun Solaris
Master/Media server.

Please let me know if anyone has seen that "Not Enough
Space" error before. The only reference to it I can find
indicates there was a problem reading the header record on
a tape.

We do not have any trouble reading the header records on
the tapes. The error we get shows up when Netbackup starts
reading the backup data for the restore.
