Media player 10 won't play wmv, avi, mpeg files

Help!

My Medai Player 10 suddenly won't play some files. It wont play some wmv, avi, and mpeg files. I reinstalled Media Player 10 and it still won't work. How do I fix it?

Have a look at this utility from the MS MVP Marc Liron, it checks the codecs on your machine and informs you if any are corrupt

Have you check to see if your Windows (I assume) media player is set to play these files. Check Tools|options, types types tab.

I've downloaded and run sherlock but it looks like everything's working.

This is the error I keep getting:
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.
