Trying to perform a db2 restore. Veritas 6.5.2. Library Scalar I2000. AIX 5.3 OS. In the activity monitor the restore is showing as active but it says "media needed DD1071". Its just sitting there not doing anything but inventory was run and the tape is in the library. Please help. Thanks.

1st things to try ...

robtest - can you move the tape "manually"

robtest
select library
m s3 d1 (eg. slot 3 to drive 1)
m d1 s3 (put it back again)

If robtest works, I'd restart NBU if you can
If not, powercycle library

Anything in logs ?

Is the tape in the library? Has it been 'inventoried' to see if the tape exists?

run the vmoprcmd command and see if there is a pending request action shown at the top of the report...or look at the device monitor in the admin console.

Is there a tape drive 'DOWN'? Perhaps there isn't a 'free' drive?

Hi Thanks for the responses! It seems the database administrator had set up the template for the restore wrong and it was messing things up when he was trying a restore. It's working now. On a side note have any of you guys had bad experiences with DBAs? We used to have a couple of great DBAs but unfortunately they left and the ones we hired don't know to much about anything and constantly blame veritas and open tickets with symantec about issues that are not veritas issues. They don't bother reading the sql veritas book as well when anything goes wrong and when you ask them if they tried something they say yes but actually never do. Not saying that I know everything or anything but I at least try to find an answer out.
