Hi is there a option for me to unprotect an "overwrite prtected tape"
we are running veritas on 2000 sbs, running one full followed by daily differiantials, tapes are loaded mondays and changed fridays, however by thursday when i monitor the progress i always find that the tape has been ejected, the system requires me to insert another media but when i insert anohter media i get the message that the the media seagate 2002/04/02 15:18:02 is overwrite protected, is there a way of unprotecting the media for overwriting please
thanks

Try moving the overwrite protected media to "scratch media" via the media tab in backup exec (once in "Media" click on "All Media" or whatever media set it's in, and then right click on the specific media in question: eg "4MM020200". Here you will see the move media option). You'll need to find the media number via the device tab. Once you have moved the media you will be allowed you to overwrite the tape.
