Media Information reverts to <blank media>

Help!

I am using Arcserve 2k, SP4, on Windows 2k SP3. We have an ADIC Scalar 100 w/ 50 slots, 3 tape drives. Am using SQL server 2k, and I have just done a consistency check on the DB (no errors).

Many of my slots are reporting as <blank media>. If I inventory them using &quot;Quick Inventory&quot;, they still end up blank. If I inventory using &quot;Regular Inventory&quot;, the media invormation appears. An hour later, they were <blank media> again. Between the 2 time periods, I did restart all services (for what I think is an unrelated problem), and, the Pruning job ran.

My Activity log retention is set to 2 months.
DB Pruning prunes records older then 90 days, and &quot;Media-Related only...&quot; is unchecked.

Can anyone tell me what is going on?

make sure the loader setting (set unknown media to blank) is not checked in the acrserve device config.

Under what circumstances to media become &quot;unknown?&quot; Whenever the services are started?
