Here's the case. I have two systems (each with it's own tape drive). Both have BE 12.5 installed and the settings are identical. When I run a backup on one server (bs1) and then put that tape in the other tape drive (bs2), it brings up different data for the drive. BS1 says that tape is "Overwritable" and "Infinte - Allow append". BS2 says "Keep Data Indefinitely - Do Not Allow Overwrite". Any ideas? I do Inventory that tape when I put it in and the correct media label is shown but the Allocated Date is wrong and if I try and Catalog the tape, it gives me an error saying it's the wrong tape.

It's understood that you have the same systems which leaves me to believe the OS is same and backup 12.5 is installed on both. However its unclear as to whether the tape drives are identical as well. What tape drives are you using and are you using veritas drivers or the tape drive vendor drivers e.g. HP, Dell etc...

I'm using HP drives (identical drives). The only difference is one drive is installed internally and the other is using and HP StorageWorks enclosure.
