Hi Guys,

We have a Major Alarm in or Lab vMCD that refers to Media Gateway. We have noted that we are unable to make conferences among 53XX sets.

Any idea what they mean with Media Gateway??

Regards,

Daniel

The Media Server is the portion that provides MOH, paging and conferencing for the MCD-ISS, vMCD and MiCD. It talks to the MCD call control through the 'Media Gateway' component. So basically this alarms is telling you that the Media Server is not connected/running, and as a result you don't have those services.

Check the Software logs during startup, there should be more detail there.

What specifically is the alarm message/error?

Irwin,

The Alarm Details doesn't say much about the problem, it only says Media Gateway under category.

I already opened a ticket with Tech. Supp. and they have asked me to fetch system logs from MSL. They however will be connecting tomorrow from Caldicot.

I just received information from the guys managing the vmWare and I think I have found what is causing the problem. The VMachine was created on a server which CPU does not comply with Mitel vMCD requirements... Hyperthreading is not enable, CPU is not Nehelem Architecture... CPU is not 55XX series.

Most probably that tomorrow Tech Support will ask us to install this on a descent server, I'll bet...

Regards,

Daniel

Yes, that will do it. You need to stick to the recommendations for vmware. What I suspect you'd see on your system is the cpu usage in the vmsphere client showing very high usage. This means that side processes, like the media gateway, don't get a chance to run and the connection link between the two time out.

Deploy of an ova onto a qualified server and don't touch it unless you want issues...;)

IRWIN, we rebooted the MSL where the vMCD is installed and the alarm went away. They now can make conferences and so on.

We will be however installling everything on a H/Ware that can suppor the vMCD.

Thanks very much, Regards,

Daniel

Good to hear. Keep an eye on that alarm, it's probably the first one that will tell you that you're over-taxing your system.
