media files play slow

I've got an XP system that plays all media files slow -- like a 33 record -- no matter what media player you use! I can play the same file on another system with any media player and it is just fine. I'm at a loss... I've re-installed these media players (windows MP 9 and realplayer) and that didn't help. Any ideas?

could be your soundcard settings.Audio files are usually 44.1.If your soundcard supports different sample rates and is locked to a different rate than 44.1 you will get this problem

How much RAM have you got?

Is there any difference between Sound files or a CD?
