Media errors with Arcserve2000 and compaq Tape drives

Using Arcserve 2000 with Compaq tape drives on NT4, we are getting "media errors" on multiple tapes with multiple drives. Looking for a better fix than replacing tape drives all the time.

Have you tried formatting the media before you use the tape to backup? -----------------------------------------------------

Yes the media is formatted ... but it still gives us a media error

Have you upgraded the firmware on the drives recently? Also drivers??

What type of drive is it (DLT, DAT and what model).

Any specific error codes? -----------------------------------------------------
