I have a RISC 250 with AIX 4.3.2, We recently upgraded from 3.2.5 and now we get an error daily stating: 811-960: Power Status register indicates the following problem:
100% power supply 00-00 Media Drawer Fan malfunction. We do not have a media drawer fan. So does anyone know why I am getting this? OR how to get rid of it?

butchrecon,

Well my first question is is the error being e-mailed to root everyday?

If so check the error report via:

errpt -a |more

Search for this error and check the date is last occured.

If the error is being brought to yuor attention via an e-mail the diagela is analysing the error log finding this error, i.e. which it deems important and e-mailing you to say, hey check out this error..

If this is the case a simple

errclear 0

i.e. delete all errors form the error report. The e-mails will then stop and will only return if the actual error re-occurs in the error log.

If it is not mailed to root and there are consistent errors in the error report for a device which does not exist then try:

diag -a - it should then prompt you with a list of hardware the system is unable to find i.e. hardware which was available and is now defined without proper removal. You should be able then be able to remove this.
