Media&Device service would'nt start Backexec 8.6

I try to install Veritas backup exec 8.6 on my DELL but the Media& Device Service fail to start. The message is database does not exist. I find out on veritas backup knowledge base that my plv.mdb file might be corrupted and reinstall it from the CD but the problem remains.I tried to unload the eom driver for the Sony STD9000 dds3 tape and install the veritas drive but i still have the problem.Strange since I have another DELL computer using the same kind of tape and everything is working well on this one.
Any idea? help would be appreciated.

either a driver problem for the tape drive or the tape drive is not being seen at all. The other option is the LAN Manager Server service isn't running. Check event viewer.

Thank's for your answer. As I tried myself to solve the problem I found out what was wrong.The problem was an ODBC driver problem.I just updated MDAC from Micro$oft site and the Jet Engine. and the problem is gone.I had the same problem on an other computer I applied the same solution and it was also solved.

Could you give the Version Numbers of the MDAC & Jet Engine that You have used to solve the problem ?

jet Engine is jet 40 SP3 file is named jet40Sp3_Comp.exe and MDAC 2.6 SP1.

I upgraded my Main Exchange server running NT 40 SP6a and another server it worked without problem once I updated the jet engine since I only updated MDAC at first.I can send them to you if you want. Just contact me !
