Hi,
we are looking for a simple mechanism for logging the frequency of PC's going off the network which could use the net send command to notify a specific user on the same domain or just creating a log which can be accessed remotely any ideas....all the network monitoring software seems to be overkill.

There are approx 30 PC's on the domain all running win 2k Pro Server win2k

many thanks for any help

Sean

I do not know if you use DHCP, but if you do you maybe check the logs to see how many times it gives out IP's?

There are a couple of ways you could do it. I'll tell you the one I would use...setup the domain security policy (Active Directory Users and Groups right click domain...Group Policy)There are places for startup and shutdown scripts. Simply put your net send in a .BAT (I would put the BAT in \\server\Netlogon)

Simple way to do it. Cheers
