mechanical ringers on an ATA

I've heard that on many systems it is recomended that you use only sets with electronic ringers on an ATA because the higher voltage required to power a mechanical ringer can kill your ATA or KSU. Is it safe to use a mechanical ringer on a Norstar ATA?

never had aproblem same as a phone, cheaper than an algo ringer ,algo may be louder
