Hello,

We have here a fine and dandy NEC NEAX 2000 PBX system. Its just getting older by the day, but we need to get another year of service out of it. This system is now my responsibility, and my knowledge of it is limited. We connect to the system using a modem line and the Matworx Software.

How can we get a report of our digital and analog extension usage, and how many lines we have unassigned? I think that this is step one.

Thank You :)

What version 2000; IVS, IVS2, or IPS? What version of MatWorX do you have; MatWorX Studio, MatWorX IPS, and what version are you running? Basically all you have to do is run a LEN Listup, that will show you what LEN's are assigned and what extensions are related.

To find out unassigned ports you will have to look at your card layout for your line cards(4DLC, 4LC, 8DLC, 8LC). Then go to your LEN listup for that card slot and see if all ports for that card are assigned.

You can talk about us, but you can't talk without us.

We are using MatWorks 2.5.34 on an old windows 95 workstation which is probably on the brink of failure. We do not have an updated version of the software, or even the disks to install the version we have on a better workstation.

It is a NEC 2000 IVS system.

I found the LEN Listup, thasnk you for that. Hwo can I tell which LEN #'s are for each card in the system?

One more thing? We have NEVER had a backup. We dial in to the system via a modem line. When I try to run a backup I get the message "Operation only valid when the port is open [8018]"

Thank You for taking the time to answer my post.

Your trying to perform a backup via the built in modem so you will need to go to a MOC window and change CM 4009>1>0
As for the LENs they should start at 0000 to 0003 for LT slot 0, 0004 to 0007 for the card in LT slot 1 and so on and so on.
An F in front of the station identifies a digital line set, a station number only identifies an analog single line station, and a DXXX identifies a trunk.

Pardon my ignorance. It has been a couple of years since I have dealt with these things. So to make the change you are talking about I would go to a phone and :
trasnfer, conf, *, transfer, conf, #, redial, 4009... Then how do I change the setting?
The only other tool I have is the Matworx software, and I do not see in that how to make these type of changes. Actualyl half of the features of the software do not appear to be working for us.

Thats for your patience.

trasnfer, conf, *, transfer, conf, #, redial, 4009, recall, 1, recall, 0, Conf. Hang up the set.

I would see if your vender has the DOS MAT software as the backups on the Matworx Studio have only a 50/50 chance of success. They may backup ok but look out when you try to load it. Once/if you upgrade to IVS2 or IPS you can start using the Matworx32.
Matworx Studio was and still is junk. The original Matworx 32 for the IVS was ok but later versions (made by NEC Japan) were not released in the US. Probably because they worked.
At last we are back to the Matworx32 for the IVS2 and IPS and not having to deal with something that has more bugs than a swamp.

I disagree with your statement, Pave35! Most versions of Matworxs were a pain in the butt, but 3.61 sp2 and sp 4 were the best and I have not had any occurrences of trouble trying to load a backup with it.

Some high points:
- call forward GUI interface is loved by our customers
- traffic reporting is better than MW32

As a tech / engineer I have MW 32, 3.61 AND DOS commands loaded on my laptop as they are helpful NEEDED tools.

You are correct that it is nice having the DOS MAT commands.

Gary
