I have an Octel 250 w/ Aria 02.05.06-1 that is connected to a Nortel Opt 81c. I would like to know if a new message in user (A)'s mail box can light the message indicator of another users (B) 2616. Thanks in advance.

The way I get this to work is to put user A's phone number on user B's phone as an scn. Then on another key put a xmwk key.

The syntax is key x xmwk (vm number) (user a's number)

The red light won't come on, but the xmwk key should flash.

The feature is call extended message waiting if you need to look it up in the software features guide.

I should have thought of that! Thanks, I'll give it a try today.

I am trying to do the same thing but across to another PBX but I can't get the xmwk key to work. It works in the office where the Octel is connected directly to the Option 61 but not accross the T1 to an Mini. Is this a limitation on the Octel?

No i don't think it is. Can you turn it on from an station to the other PBX?

To answer you question yes. I have users at the other end that use my octel since it is centralized and their vm light does light up. Their vm box is also their extension on key 00. This is why I don't understand why when I set up a xmwk key it does not flash.

Not sure ? If you look at the online CDR for the MWI event on that station does it look ok ? it should give a stat 0 if the pbx sent the ok back to the octel.

The Octel shouldn't care where the extension is or wether it is a Key 0 or xmwk. Do they have an appearance of the DN you are trying to get the xmwk to notify? Can you post a TNB for the remote phones?

It would be worth checking over in the meridian forum, but I am pretty sure that you cannot do xmwk between systems.

Another issue that can turn one upside down is when mbx A has a different extension than the mbx number. This is found in CDR using MWI event (I think 18).
For this scenario, I presume you want to light MWI on 2 separate extensions, at the same time. If so, this can only be done through switch translations, as far as I know. But I am open to learn how it can be done if it gets done.
