I have a STDev MDX Calculated measure to create.

I have the following dimensions:

All
Job Family [3 Members]
Job Titles [120 Members]

Time
Year
Quarter
Month
Day
Region
Country
State
Region

I have the following Measures:

Pay Rate What we pay our Associates
Bill Rate What we Bill our Customers
Associates People we place in jobs

I have created Bill Mean Calculated Measures [sum(Bill Rate)/Count] same for Pay Rate Mean . This works just fine.

I want to show:
Pay Rate Low Pay Rate Mean Pay High Pay Rate
STDev – Mean Mean STDev + Mean

Same report for the Bill Rate.

I am having trouble conceptualizing how to go about creating the STDev.

What I have currently :
For Straight STDev of Bill Rate
Stdev([Job Family].[Job Title Name].members,[Bill Rate Mean])
This yields a result that seems to be uniformly applied across every Job Title.
I need it to be a unique calculation for each Job Title.

I tried:
Stdev(«Set»[, «Numeric Expression»])
Stdev(«Dimension».CurrentMember[, «Numeric Expression»])
Stdev([Job Family].[Job Title Name].CurrentMember[, «Numeric Expression»])

For «Numeric Expression» do I am using the raw [Pay Rate] value.
With the above MDX Expression, I am seeing ONE value calculated for all of the Pay Rate Column , likewise with the Bill Rate Column. How do I make it look at only each Job Title, ie, Job Title:Systems Analyist.

As you can see I am a bit confused about how to proceed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,

Brian McCaig

Brian,

Did you ever figure out your problem?
I'm evaluating an olap solution here at my job and was hoping you could pass a few tidbits of info back?

In our project, I need to calculate a few statistics!
Mean_Amt,
Median_Amt,
High_Amt,
Low_Amt,
25pct_Amt,
75pct_Amt,
95pctconfidence_Amt

If you figured out the solution and or know how to calculate the others, I'd appreciate a hand! :)
Any examples using the sample cubes/measures from analysis would be great too.

Also, can you point me out to any sources that helped you out or may help me out. I can create a basic cube easily but these custom calculations are beyond me right now!

thanks in advance,
John
