I have a MDT 40GB hard drive, new, just about 2 weeks old. I had it running in my AMD XP 2000+ with a MSI K7 Master (MS-6341) motherboard.

It was going fine for a while, the yesterday, i restarted my computer, and the 2nd screen of the booting operation was replaced by a blinking cursor.

What I mean by the 2nd page is: it has that table, with all the information of the computer (processor, hard drives....etc.)

Please help me.

1. Have you checked everything is connected/seated properly inside the case? (Cpu/case fans working ok?)

2. Can you get into the bios settings. If you can, is there a 'failsafe' or bios default setting option. If so, set it, save & reboot.

3. If no joy from 1 & 2 - disconnect everything apart from keyboard & graphics card - see if it will boot to attempt to load operating system (obviously no hard drive, but will get appropriate message if it makes it). If ok, connect up one device at a time.

I just moved the HD to the secondary controller. It works fine (I'm running off of my old hard drive now) I can access the 40GB and everything, but if I put on primary controller, not working. Please reply if you have any suggestions, or......Is there a way to boot a HD on the 2nd controller?

If there's no hard drive on 1st controller, it will boot automatically from HD on 2nd. If your old HD on 1st, then you should be able to change bios settings to boot from second hard drive, first.

I'm not sure if my BIOS has that setting, but next time I restart I will try that. (My computer is hosting multiple servers, the more I'm down, the more it costs me)

Well, I tried it......and......IT WORKED!!! WHOOOOO HOOOOO!
[2thumbsup]

Thanks a lot.
