Hi,

Access 2002.

I have created a DB that i have split - I want to make the front end an MDE - but when i go to select the option it is grayed out - ie not selectable - why might this be???

Cheers

Steven

Your db must be in Access2000 format. Convert to 2002 format then try to create MDE.
To change the default see..
TOOLS | OPTIONS | ADVNACED TAB | DEFAULT FILE FORMAT.

Zameer,

Thanks for your prompt response.

I have tried changing the default format and it still does not allow me to select the Make MDE File option - i have tried both formats - but neither works.

Any other suggestions?

Many thanks,

Steven

The default format is only for new db creation. when you create a new db it will save to the selected format.
See the title bar of the database window to confirm the file format. It will be something like

database name : Database (Access 2000 file format)

To do with the current file you need to convert it to 2002 format
TOOLS | DATABASE UTILITIES | CONVERT DATABASE | TO ACCESS 2002 FILE FORMAT
Then try to create MDE.
