General query...

I've got an access database, running one main with several subforms, all with a fair amount of code underneath them. The main form is currently taking about 10-15 seconds to open. Is converting the database to an MDE file likely to speed this up by any significant amount?

That may be correct, but there are other advantages of MDEs. They do restrict people from modifying any Modules and code behind forms and reports.

Additionally, you can lock them out of see the database window so that users will not be able to view tables or queries.

Well, the users could still link to the tables from an outside DB, so the security aspect is limited to form/Reprt/module deign. If you compile your code then copmact/repair the DB it will run just as fast as an MDE, because that's all an MDE will do, compile the DB. Kyle ::)

Kyle: That assumes that the tables are local. You can not link to tables in another database that are linked to another database such as a SQL Server or another ODBC linked table.

True, but I could use ADO or DAO if I was real intent on getting in there, if I REALLY wanted to... But yes, that's a decent point, I had forgotten that standard linking won't let you link to a linked table. But that's way off subject. At least we answered Gary's question. Kyle ::)
