Is it possibe to reverse compile an mde? That is, can an mde be converted back into an mdb file?
 
No....once an MDE has been created, you cannot use that MDE to go back to an MDB. That is why you should always keep an MDB copy somewhere before creating an MDB from it and why backup, backup, backup is stressed so heavily by everyone.

I think you get third party software that does this, but I have got no experience of it.
