Greetings;
I am a newbie to Veritas and to the Email Exchange System. Having said that can I delete the *.LOG files inside the MDBDATA? Also, I have notice that this log sometimes is created between 5 to 10 times a day? Any info would be appreciated.

thanks

No! Don't delete any of the log files. What version of Exchange are you running? And what version of Backup Exec?

I am runnning Exchange V 5.5 on NT 4.0. As for Veritas it is NT/2000 8.6 (this is new to us here).

I had this problem too

In Exchange System Manager, Right click the Server and go into Properties, UNtick Remove Log files. I had this set to remove log files after 2 days (don't do this)

Assuming doing a full backup each night, Inside veritas on the Exchange Tab of the backup job make sure its says "FULL flush commited logs"

I think what was happaning was Vertias was trying to flush the logs but exchange was saying it wanted to keep the logs for 2 days.

I was getting up to 2gb's of extra logs

I didn't explain it very well but mail me back if you still have probs.

I wasn't here last week but will take a stab at the info you gave me. One last question will Veritas then REMOVE (flush the logs) the LOG files that have been there for XX amount of months. Like 5-6 months worth?

thxs

Opps haven't been here for a while, Did that work?
