My client was using Office 97 Access for his databases and had a custom form overlay made for their database entry. It was a .mdb file that held the entry forms etc. When we converted to Office XP V.2002 the .mdb file would not convert and is now not usable. Is there any way to salvage this file for the form entry use?
Thanks
Bill

Check with your IT department and hopefully they'll have a back-up from last week or so. If not, then you might be out of luck. If they do, *EVEN* if there has been work done to the database, you at least have a working set of forms/queries/macros/modules, and you can maybe even re-import the table data into the original. This is the angle I would work.

If not, you're just going to have to try and recover your database the hard way:

Listed below is the corrupt MDB FAQ. It will basically tell you to:
0. Back up your MDB before doing anything more to it--even if you can't recover it, someone else may be able to later.
1. Attempt to use the built-in repair and compact. This apparently failed.
2. Import all database objects to a new MDB. I'd try this with both Access 97 and Access 2002.
3. Try the JETCOMP utility. This is able to fix databases better than the built-in repair.

If all this fails, there are professional firms which specialize in database recovery. I have no first-hand experience with any of them, but just know that they exist, and they may be able to get your data/forms for you.
