MDAC 2.8 Killed my internet connection ?

I was trying to install Roxio CD and DVD 6 when it gave me an error 1904...i then looked at the Roxio.com website and they said this..

so I then went to Microsoft's website

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;318494

to get the newest version of MDAC

http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/mdac/

now before the installation I turned off my internet browser..which is powered by dial up...

after the installation I proceeded to finish my roxio software installation and was trying to go online to register and it killed my connection...my computer now does not recognize dial up..

i deleted the connection and reconnected and nothing..

what can i do to get internet back?
