Can anyone help - i need to un-install MDAC 2.7 off a windows xp machine as we are having probs connecting to our sql 2000 via odbc. i have the component checker but there is no uninstall option when the scan has completed, have tried with various switches on the command line but still no luck. i know xp ships with 2.7 but does anyone know how to get it off so we can do a clean install?

Here is a brief paragraph that I have encountered on various sites though it may not give you a warm and fuzzy ...

Microsoft has thoroughly tested MDAC. However, since this software becomes part of your operating system, there might be some very old systems that have trouble with MDAC. Because MDAC is system software, there is no way to uninstall MDAC without reformatting your hard disk and reinstalling Windows. However, as scary as that sounds, problems with MDAC are very rare. If you are running a database server on your computer, such as SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, etc, consult with your system administrator before updating the MDAC software on your computer to be sure it's compatible with the database server you are using.

Here is the official MDAC link and the associated FAQ. Looks like the "rollback" feature may be of help but looks as if it may be something that is attempted with great care.

Thanks

As Jay says, you can't really "uninstall" MDAC.

Have you tried just re-installing the latest version? You can quite happily just run the setup over the top of the existing version.

Also, are you sure it's an MDAC problem? What errors are you getting? Is it just that machine? etc..
