Hi,

I have an Ericsson MD 110 at our office. I have bought it 4 years ago. Since last year the communication breaks everytime for about 5 minutes up to more than 8 times a day. The technicians have changed all kind of cards in it but it is getting worse. In a meeting with the supplier they told us that this pbx is outdated and the fabric is not making parts for it anymore. I've asked them how come it did not repair after changing all the cards. They told me that the cards they have plugged in are cards for a newer version of the MD110 thats why its not functioning.I would like to know if there is someone out there who can help me with some advice by aswering the following questions.
1. What is the duration of an MD110?
2. Is it true that the manufacturer is not making parts no more for the MD110?
3. If true , can you help me with more info.
4. Is it true what they are telling me?

well it depends on the type of board, but they are still made by Ericsson/Aastra. To me it seems the MD110 is not in fault but something external...

to answer your questions:

1) normally there is a new revision each year, problem is that the MD110 platform is almost phased out (BC13 is still supported)
2) no
4) who is your service provider? try to get a second advice of another service provider (maybe I can help you with that...)

Cheers,
Daddy

What You See Is What You Get
Never underestimate tha powah of tha google!

We have customers still running at BC6 or BC9 and so happy.Near this versions your system is quite new... I couldn't make them upgrade cause the system is so stable. For service companies Ericsson is not a good product cause it makes so less faults :) But as your partner says with BC13 the new cards are supported which have more resources on them. If you are planning to grow up your system, upgrade fee will be so funny near this grow up fee. Also you can get support for problems from Aastra till 2015 for BC13 (TSW).

As Kank writes the MD110 (TSW, MX-One/TSE) product from Aastra (former Ericsson) is know to be very stable and reliable. We have been selling and maintaining since 1987, and our costumers are happy with this reliable product having a good up-time.
The problem is not your PBX product, I would say!
Maybe look out for another service provider.

Which country are you in?

We maintain systems at BC6, BC8, BC9 and several BC12 with no problems. We also have a good stock of old board revisions for the scenario you mentioned above. So far we have hardly had to replace any equipment on these old systems due to failure (some extension boards have failed, but that can happen at any age)

If you would like a second opinion please email me on cthomas at dv02 dot co dot uk and perhaps I can see if you really do need new parts.

As the others suggest, it sounds like something external.

Is it only external calls that fail? Is it all calls that fail? Does the power to the handsets fail?
