mcshield error on VirusScan 7.1

I had this problem on some computers with NT4
after installing VS 7.1, the mcshield service starts and then when any file is scanned with the on access scanner, dr watson appears and says that
"mcshield.exe exception: access violation (0x11111111) Adress: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx"

of course the 0x11111111 and the address vary

i can´t help it, i restarted the service, tried rebooting the workstation, also uninstalling and reinstalling the product but always the same
any suggestions??
