MCSE's deserve free technet subscriptions?

In an article titled "MCES's Speak Out" in this months Windows & .Net magazine, Mark Smith wrote about a group of MCSE's that e-mailed him saying that MCSE's that keep there MCSE current, they deserve in the very least a free subscription to MS's TechNet publication which includes a monthly CD and access to subscription only resources on the site. They would also recieve discounts on support calls to MS. Currently, if you have been recognized by MS as a MVP, (Microsoft Most Valuable Professional), they recieve this package. Personally, I like the idea. I'm not an MCSE, only an MCP working towards an MCSA, but the NT folks who have stayed current getting there MCSE's in W2K deserve this. NT and W2K have a lot of differences, so if a person keeps working on it, MS should recognize the work they've done. If you want to read more it's
and it's InstantDoc ID 41392. You have to have a subscription, but this is the jist of it. What do you fine folks think?

Like jtb said....nice and all that.

I think MCSE's deserve it as I think that we all work hard to achieve the cert and would be nice to get some reward other than the nice cert and tie pin :)

I was at a local Tech Net event about a year ago and during a break the presenter was talking to a group of us she mentioned that they had heard that MS was considering giving a subscriptions of Tech Net to MSCE's who take and pass one MS test a year.

Until I get my free subscription I won't hold my breath, but it would be a nice perk for those with take the time to keep up on the lastest products.

Not needed IMO, if you're an MCSE working for a company then the company should buy the subscription. If you're an indepedant consultant then you should see it as a business expense. If you're unemployed then you have my sympathy but do you really need a TechNet subscription?

I would not say "needed", but would just be nice to get something back from MS, seeing as we have lined their pockets with exam courses/exam fees.

Do not forget some MCSE's work for small companies that would see the expense as too much for little return.

After all you pass your 7 exams get your MCSE and what for?

Thats right you wait for the upgrade and then line their pockets some more ;)
