Ok - I've been out of work for months now without even interviews in site. Except, of course, for the recruiters who won't leave you alone. AND the financial services folks and miscellaneous pyramind schemes.

I've got UNIX experience, telecom, WAN, NT server, web admin, etc., but can't seem to get much bites. Wondering if anyone has any idea if getting some kind of DB admin certification would help at all?

Certifications can nothing BUT help. Howeever a well put togeather resume can really get the calls coming. I suggest going to the library and getting a book on resumes and using it to put togeather a great resume and cover letter. Also dont let that gap get too big. Get certified in something that ertains to yur career choice. Being Certified in Windows 2000 is nice but what impact will it have on a database job? If DB admin is where you ant to go then Certifications in Visual Basic (or any language for DB) or Access can really make a difference. James Collins

The resume advice is excellent. Also work on your interview skills while your in the library looking at career books. Know how to answer the inevitable "Tell me about yourself" questions.

I believe you'd want to look into the MCDBA certification - Microsoft Certified Database Administrator. It's got four tests, but you can be an MCP after you pass your first exam. As always, check Microsoft's website for the details. Good luck!
