Hi all,

This time last year, I thought about getting MCSE - however with the new certs MS have introduced I'm no longer sure if it's the best route to take.

Previously you get the relevant MCP's and you obtain MCSE status. How do the new certs effect this? Is there an equilivant? For example, could I get 7 Technical Specalists which then equate to a new style MCSE?

Cheers,

Steve.

The replacement for the MCSE hasn't been announced. It won't be until the Vista Server OS is released and the MCP exams for that OS are close to going beta.

A good example of how it will probably work will be the MCITP: Database Administrator cert. First you have to get an MCTS: SQL Server 2005 Cert. Then you can take another couple of tests and get the MCITP: Database Adminstrator exam. I would assume that the MCITP certs for Vista will be the same method. Get an MCTS: Vista Server (Or something like this) cert, then take a few more tests to get the MCITP. The MCTS are to show bredth of knowledge in a product. The MCITPs are to show depth of knowledge in a job function.
