I've passed two of the four tests needed for the mcsa. Had them done before ms even announced the new cert. I found out today that the mcsa test is heavy into subnetting. That is about as esoteric as trying to work with domains. There is nothing physical you can do to handle it. It's not like setting up tcp/ip or something simple. I'm starting to wonder about the use of the mcsa. Anybody else feel the same? Thanks. Glen A. Johnson

If you have trouble subnetting, check this out As for MCSA, I don't know. I think I'll get it, I only need to take the 218 test... Matt Wray

The MCSA is verymuch worth it. Mainly because those 4 tests do count tword your MCSE. If you are going for the MCSE then why not get the MCSA on the way? James Collins

I recieved the MCSA while taking the beta for 70-218. The test was not as difficult as the 70-244 beta but has a wide scope of general knowledge. I believe the MCSA should be a step to MCSE, as with Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CCIE track (just not has repectable as Cisco Certs). Always remember that all your Certs will do is give you a boost up over someone with equal skills. Once you have the interview or job, you cant hide behind that little plastic card and pretend you know what your doing. So shoot for every Cert you can get while your starting out. Then you can decide if its worth keeping up to date.

It is worth it to me... but I look at the MCSA as kind of a halfway "reward" for working towards my MCSE.

Worth is a hard thing to measure, I thought it was worth spending $300.00 on a model airplane... my wife didn't. CJ

my take on the MCSA is I don't really need either of these I just what something for a resume.

the first time i get turned down from a job cause i'm MCSA not MCSE i'll fork out the rest of my money and take the other 4 tests (more for me cause I'm using my A+ and Net+ for the elective)

Matt
