I am trying to plan for the best certifications to have for the future. What is the best route for the future of businesses? I think 2000 is the best way to go now, but is that going to change in 3,4,5...years? Could someone help me with the best route for me? I am looking towards mcsa with specialization in security. Thanks

What several people will probably tell you, so I'll tell you now is this.

Go for the 2000, then do the upgrade to 2003. That will give you both certs which does look better, with only a single extra test. is the URL with the info on upgrading from 2000 to 2003.

I have to agree with mrdenny on this. The reason I think it will be important to have 2000 certs and 2003 is for upgrade purposes. For instance: many employers won't be jumping on the 03 wagon right away. 2000 is pretty stable so most won't change until they have to. Look at nt4, it sucked and people are still running it. If you get both it will open more doors with companies that want to do the upgrade.

I don't really think it will make much difference. Personally I'd just do the 2003 track but if all your experience is in 2000 it might well be better to do the 2000 track followed by the upgrade exam.
I highly doubt it would make much difference to an employer (that understood certs anyway) whether you have 2000 and 2003 or just 2003.

depends on the employer obviously... but if you want the easiest learning curve, the 2000 first and upgrade to 2003 is your best bet...
