I've just finished my MCSA and would like to take the Security + exam as well has anyone else take this exam that could advise me on how much extra work i might be required to do.

I've taken these exams over the past three years and have six years experience working in IT with two of those as a sys admin.

70-210
70-215
70-218
70-271
70-272
70-271/272 make the MCDST elective.

I'm wondering what to expect from the exam and what difficulty level so i can guage how much time i will need to set from revising the material.

Any advice?

Thanks.

pinkpanther56,

Are you planning to take just the Security+ exam, or to upgrade your MCSA to MCSA: Security?

I found the Security+ exam, by itself, to be less difficult than any Microsoft exam. It's also more expensive. Having taken Security+ over two years ago, what I remember is that it was primarily multiple-choice questions, and about 100 of them. All of the questions were worded much more simply than Microsoft's exam questions.

Good luck!

Hi Wishdiak

I would like to make my MCSA into the MCSA + Security certification ideally, does than not happen automatically when you complete the exams?

What sort of questions does the exam include are they technical or more focused on security concepts and planning responces to security incidences?

Thanks.

pinkpanther56,

It looks like in addition to the Security+ and the above exams, you'll need to pass one of the following for MCSA: Security on Windows 2000: 70-214, 70-227, or 70-350.

As far as the Security+ exam, my recollection of the exam questions is that they were primarily focused on definitions of terms and concepts.
