I have cleared VB6 Desktop Paper & got MCP but unable to decide whether should I continue for MCSD in VB or wait & learn .net & go for MCSD .net track.I have sufficient knowledge to clear present MCSD but not learned .net yet.

will present MCSD will be valued for coming 5-7 years?Kinndly convey your opinion.
I am thankful for yr. feedback

Yes, it will be supported for some time to come.....

But consider carefully about what you want to be doing over the next few years....

Also, .NET is quite likely to become the dominant platform.....at which point, we will be .NET developers, not VB or VC# or VC++.....

If you already have ample knowledge to pass the current MCSD track, then I'd say by all means, do so. All you need to invest is 6-8 hours of test time & about $375US.

Then, begin investing your time learning .NET, get your MCSD.NET, & enjoy the best of both worlds.

AFA the current MCSD's worth - IMO, it's value will slowly decline over the next 5-7 years as companies migrate to .NET, but it will always be an asset. There will always be companies who do not desire to upgrade for various reasons. Jon Hawkins

Yes! I'm at the same spot as you and I'm going forward, because from my understanding the MCSD will be good from now one (for VB 6.0), but the MCP is only good for 1 year after your exam is discontinued. Might as well continue on.

Its a toughy, if you could get .NET now, your qualification would last you a LOT longer AND you would be in demand when the new software is run out.

Problem is, there is next to know documentation for this new software, the Course textbooks are to be released (from memory) in 2003 I believe. So its a tough road if you want too choose it.
