Hello,
I was wondering how these MCK extender's work and how reliable are they? Do they allow Voice mail access from the switch? I am looking into doing this for a customer who wants to branch 10 extensions to another office in another part of town, and was hoping i could get some feedback from someone who has done this. Do you need a T1 or isdn? Also how do you install it to the system? I've seen the web site, but don't know what i need.
Thanks
Gabriel

They work very well. They offer complete functionality to a Norstar phone including VM, etc.

You can hook them up over a private T1 or using IP they can connect (ala VOIP) via any IP connection. The better the connection, the better the quality. I have installed many of these and use them regularly in my business.

We are located in NY and have an extender going to Israel right now. How is that for a long distance extension???

Galfaro,

They work real well, You can go to MCK and download manuals or send me an email and will see if I still have them to email to you. Once had a MCK 6000 Extender and worked real well.

thanks guys, i will download the manuals and see how they are installed. Anyone know the price range of these extenders?
Gabriel

VERY VERY EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are going to have more than 12 extentions on this system in one place, then they are not worth it. Under 12 or distributed, then they are worth their weight in gold!!

These boxes new cost roughly $3500 per side for 8 ports and $5000 per side for 12 ports.

However, they can be had on the secondary (used) market for significantly less than the retail.

Thanks

I find the MCKs a bit pricey and difficult to troubleshoot once you've left the site.

Decent BCMs can be had new for not much more than a pair of MCKs, then you can set up IP sets to run over your WAN link.
