I have a customer with a bunch of pawn shops on the same street. They have an old Nortel 824/DR5/DS with maybe 25 phones. All the stores are tied together with copper. The owner just bought another store at the end of the street where copper cannot be ran to. I suggested he upgrade to a BCM50 so that I could install 3 or 4 VOIP sets, but noooooo, he wanted to reinvent the wheel. So he bought the MCK Extender (not sure which model, will find out) online, ignoring my warnings. He worked with the IT person to set it up with a Point to Point bridge antennae, whatever that is. I had very little to do with this. just the cross-connecting and programming sets.
Well the thing has been dropping the phones at the remote location at least 10 times a day. Phones go down, all indicators flash and it comes back up in a couple of minutes. The users report that it happens every time the page feature is used. No overhead paging, just the set speakers. I just took over this client as the other phone guy passed away, lucky him to get away from this guy!! o well, the checks are good. I digress. In 10 or more years, these users have never used TRANSFER or INTERCOM. They only use PAGE. Going to try some things I have in mind but, any ideas??
