I just have to ask your opinions on something. I am CCNP, CCDP, and MCSE 2K3 certified, and a friend of mine is a newbie. He is persuing his MCDST, but I said , in the grand scheme of things, it won't help him much. My contension is that he should persue MCSA and maybe MCDBA or something if he wants to get a job paying decent $$... Is that a correct assessment? Is it a waste of $$ to persue a MCDST when taking a couple more tests will put you in a position for a more lucrative job? I ask because I don't know how entry-level is, as I have been in the game for a long time and have a great job, I just want him to be in a good position when he does start looking for a job. Thank you in advance for your answers...

Peace,
Toni L. [yinyang]

Not many people have the MCDST and not many people know what it is. It's still a new cert. I'd recommend him getting his A+ instead. It will probably be more usefull in the long run.

It kind of depends on where he wants to be when he starts working. I would say go for the A+ and Net+ at least. The MCDST is a good idea, but like Mrdenny it is new and not many people know about it. If he plans on supporting Microsoft, I would work on an MCSA.
