MCDN needed for IP trunking to CS1000 or other BCMs?

Getting ready to install a couple of BCM 50s next week. Noticed when setting up that someone (NOT ME) didn't order MCDN keycode to go along with the IP trunks we did order.

Can someone confirm what we can or cannot do without MCDN activated? We are

- not using centralized VM
- networking these (and future) BCMs together in a UDP/CDP network with several host CS1000 with Sig Servers and existing H.323 trunks

I understand we won't get CLID/Name delivery from the CS1000 without the MCDN enabled, but what else will we run into?

If you just want to call back and forth between the systems, MCDN is not required

Calling back and forth between BCM 50 and BCM 50 <-> CS1000 running Succession 4.5. Also doing a centralized ACD call center at the CS1000 location, then transferring calls back. In that case, is MCDN needed or can it do trunk route optimization? Also, will we be able to do LOC codes involving CDP and UDP routing?

TRO and TAT I believe function with IP trunks. I don't believe the UDP/LOC stuff requires MCDN either.

There used to be a problem between BCMs dialing to a Meridian PBX with ITG, if the node type was built as SL-1 instead of H.323. If the MCDN keycode wasn't present, the IP calls would fail. That shouldn't be a problem with the gatekeeper.

It's not that expensive to add to the BCM 50 (shouldn't be more than $750 or so, maybe even less). It might be worthwhile to add it just for the CPND features if nothing else. Sounds like you'll have a fairly extensive network when all is said and done, the users might like the name functionality, especially if calls are being transferred from site to site on a consistent basis.

The individual price is not the issue; what you have is about what we were now quoted. The issue is that we have about 14 of these systems going in in the next few months, and being $10k over what we expected. Ouch.

Ahh. It does add up quick once you pass a couple units.

TRO, TAT, and Network ICCL are programmable options without the SL-1 keycode, so you should be OK there.
